Who are we?
Spartan Youth Wrestling is 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to developing tomorrow’s leaders through a focus on discipline, determination, teamwork, service, respect, and humility. This is accomplished with clearly defined goals and standards, a rigorous yet fun practice environment, challenging competitions, and a strong Spartan Wrestling family.
We are based out of Somers, CT and are open to kids ages 5 through 14 (must be in 8th grade). Our team is open to any wrestlers, regardless of hometown or skill level, who wants to work hard, learn the sport of wrestling, and have some fun along the way.
When does the season start?
Our season kickoff party is on Sunday November 5th at 6pm in the Somers Congregational Church. The first practice will be the following Tuesday November 7th. We look forward to seeing everyone on the mat!
When and where is practice?
All practices are held at the Somers High School wrestling room.
- Mighty Mites: Pre-K – 1st Grade – Tuesday and Thursday 6:00 – 7:00 PM
- Open Practice: 2nd – 8th Grade – Tuesday and Thursday 7:00 – 8:30 PM
What equipment is required?
All wrestlers must have wrestling shoes and headgear for practice and tournaments. Wrestlers with braces on their teeth must also have a mouth guard. All wrestlers must purchase the team compression shirt and fight shorts from the apparel order. These can be used for practice and also for tournaments. Any wrestler with long hair must also wear a hair cap to protect their hair during competition.
